Sacramento’s very own, Mozzy, has always been committed to supporting his hometown and the community that raised, continuously aims to be a figure that youth can lean on and look to as a strong role model and support system. Today, on a brand new single, he’s paying homage to those he couldn’t save on a new song and video titled “FREE JUJU.” Produced by Julian Cannon, who worked with Mozzy on his Summer ’23 single “10 Percent,” “FREE JUJU” is dedicated to real ones doing time, as Mozzy vows to never go back to jail and always stand up for the hood: “What’s the price on the poles?/Ring me up, I plan on blessin’ the hood/How you blow up and ain’t check on the hood/That could never be me, blew Interscope check on the hood,” says Mozzy. The song is dedicated to Juju, a young Oak Park native who Mozzy took under his wing, and attempted to set on a righteous path, but is currently locked behind bars without bail.
