Video: Trapland Pat – Trap Dance

If there’s anything you need to know about Caribbean people – you can take us out of the Caribbean, but you can’t take the Caribbean out of us. Along with his cartoon-like eyes and flourishing wicks, Trapland Pat’s Haitian roots are a major part of his identity. When he’s not in the studio cooking up, you can catch him grabbing fried turkey and plantains from his favorite Caribbean restaurants in Ft. Lauderdale and NYC. In his new video for “Trap Dance,” you can find Pat showing off immense Haitian pride.

Mixing trap with a sprinkle of Kompa’s musical elements, Pat delivers braggadocious lyrics about his street bonafides and emphasizes his self-made status as a trapper before a rapper: “Come through through throwing 1s/I don’t need a lap dance/ Got my own cheese/Told the label to keep they advance.” In the Shot By Jolo-directed video, Pat gets comfortable with a couple of baddies repping Haiti as they carry big flags, chills with his homies, and vibes out as he does his easily-imitable Trap Dance – previously seen in his “Motions” video. Even if you’re not at the club while hearing this bouncy heater, you’ll feel compelled to get up and hit this smooth dance wherever you are – especially after hitting your inaugural 4/20 blunt today haha!
