If you haven’t noticed, Atlanta’s Yung Mal is quickly becoming one of his city’s best young emcees with his fast-talking flow. Taking the time to comment on his meteoric rise, Mal shares “Goin’ Up,” his latest video.
Annihilating a flute-laden instrumental from esteemed producer Pyrex Whippa, the Zone 6 native stacks flex after flex with a rock-steady cadence: “Not too many I can trust, I let those rubber bands bust/I got money Ion even touch, that sh*t collecting dust.” In the video, directed by ShotByWolf, Mal makes the most of his trip to NYC (the setting of his recent “Cocaine Freestyle” clip, directed by Qasquiat), causing a scene in front of the Washington Square arch with his drip and his dance highlighted with ghostly animations.
Recently included on Spotify’s Get Turnt playlist, “Goin’ Up” is the latest video from Mal’s acclaimed 6 Rings mixtape, which earned critical praise.
