Video: Rod Wave – PTSD

Rod Wave is one of the most talented vocalists in rap and the youngest in charge rising out of St Petersburg, FL. He averages 150 shows a year and the south reps for him hard (they make up 90% of his fanbase)! This summer the 20 y/o phenom released his highly praised EP, PTSD, which earned over 6M streams and amplified his ability to switch on a dime from double-time raps to angelic falsettos to bluesy expressionism. One of the standout tracks from the project was “PTSD” and today he dropped a sincere video for the melodic song.

Lyrically Rod explores the outsized affect that grief and pain can have on a psyche, before ultimately accepting its role in shaping his personality and his artistry. In the video, Rod returns to his home neighborhood, posing with adoring fans, giving out pizzas to hungry youths, and flashing back to his days on his high school basketball team. The video also captures standout moments from Rod’s “Heart On Ice Tour,” currently making its way through cities in the South. “PTSD” is the title track from Rod’s recent PTSD mixtape, released in June.
