Fredo Bang – Big Ape [Mixtape]

Blessed with a deep rasp that perfectly complements twangy Louisiana rap instrumentals, Fredo Bang is quietly blowing up. Gathering some of the biggest names in street rap for his coming-out party, Fredo shares Big Ape, his second mixtape.

A 20-track effort with production from the likes of Southside, Ben Billions, and frequent collaborator Hardbody B-Eazy, the new mixtape is buoyed by Fredo’s mastery of melody, grounded by his lived-in storytelling, and informed by a tumultuous past and months of reflection during a 2017 jail stint.

“I used to be an aggressive person. I had a lot of pride issues, and I would lash out,” says Fredo Bang. “Now I’ve turned into Mr Nice Guy–I’m more mature, I can hide, I think more before I react. Music is the art of feeling. On my project, a certain song will trigger a certain feeling for each person. You could listen to something and start crying.”

The new mixtape is home to “Gangsta Talk,” a vicious flex-off with 16-year-old newcomer NLE Choppa, which piled up over 2.8 million YouTube views and 210k Spotify plays in less than 3 weeks of release. Featuring additional appearances from Moneybagg Yo, Tee Grizzley, YNW Melly, Mozzy, Sada Baby, Celly Ru, Yoshi, and Blvd Quick, Big Ape is available everywhere via Sony RED/Bang Biz Ent.
