Video: Lil Yee Ft. FMB DZ & Lil Pete – Sacrifice

Recruiting Detroit’s FMB DZ and fellow Bay Area mainstay Lil Pete, San Francisco rapper Lil Yee takes to the streets of his hometown in the video for “Sacrifice.” The trio mob in and around a garage-turned-arcade near The Panhandle, going bar for bar about the sacrifices they’ve made, and will make, to keep themselves and their kin alive. Even though Lil Yee and Lil Pete grew up on the opposite side of the country from FMB DZ, “Sacrifice” is a searing reflection of the street life they’ve both experienced.

Lil Yee packs raw truths into lilting melodies, and he never fails to keep it 100 by rapping about the adversity he’s faced. Only 25 years old, Yee has experienced more hardship than many people face in their lifetimes. At age 22, the Fillmore rapper copped a plea and narrowly avoided spending many years behind bars for back-to-back gun charges. The next year, he lost his mother to cancer and quickly thereafter, the mother-figure that had stepped in to help also passed away. Yee decided to turn his life around, and anchored by the birth of his twin daughters, channeled his feelings into rap.

The culmination is the recently released Live 4 It, Die 4 It, a triumphant album that boasts production from Zaytoven (Future, Usher, Gucci Mane), and features from Mozzy, E-40, FMB DZ, and a posthumous verse from The Jacka.
