Video: OMB Peezy – Soulja Life Mentality

Alabama rapper OMB Peezy has built up his buzz by transcending rap regionalism and building a catalog of melodic yet gritty street music with prolific output. Following up a successful series of singles and collaborative projects with Cardo Got Wingz and Sherwood Marty, OMB Peezy strikes out on his own for Loyalty Over Love, his upcoming debut full-length.

Peezy’s “Soulja Life Mentality” finds the 21-year old under attack by police even though he’s moved on from his criminal ways. The video also features a cameo from his homies, including Nef The Pharaoh. “Soulja Life Mentality” finds OMB Peezy railing against the status quo, commenting on the difficulties of surviving as a young black man in a white world: “My mind racing, wanna be patient/But I can’t relax/Police racist, I just can’t take it/I’m riding with racks.” Featuring an appearance from TK Kravitz, Loyalty Over Love arrives later this summer via Sick Wid It Records/300 Ent. The video for “Soulja Life Mentality” follows Peezy’s video for “Make It Out (Remix),” in which he puts his own spin on the Lil Durk single.
