Video: Lil Durk – Cross Roads

Newly independent after parting ways with Def Jam Records, Chicago’s Lil Durk turned heads with Just Cause Y’all Waited. A 12-track EP with features from PartyNextDoor, Ty Dolla $ign, and Lil Baby, among others, the quickstrike release topped the iTunes Rap Charts upon release, hit #57 on Billboard, and spawned theHow I Know video, which has over 3M views in 2 weeks. With over 3M followers on IG and 2M on Twitter, Durk has created a passionate fanbase that has grown with him as he’s navigated the pitfalls of growing up in the streets and coming up in the music industry in the drill scene.

Durk’s new video for Just Cause Y’all Waited standout “Crossroads” is somber yet elegant production that pays homage to the fallen comrades Durk references in the song itself, including the recently departed Fredo Santana. The feeling of loss and mortality weigh heavy on Durk’s mind as he stands in the rain and in front of a casket in the JerryPhD directed video, paying tribute to those he’s left behind and preparing to continue on his journey in their memory. “Crossroads” is a flip of the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony classic, and finds Durk flex his melodic chops and knack for introspection that has separated him from those he began his career with.
